The Bronze Hammer

The Bronze Hammer is a live action roleplay foam fighting unit that fights in the Austin, Texas area. We are a mercenary group based on the Byzantine Empire (also called the Eastern Roman Empire before the fall of the Western Roman Empire ) and take our roots from within that time frame. The historic Byzantine Empire employed many mercenary groups to fill its ranks. Byzantium reigned from as early as 330 CE to its final days in 1453 CE; over one thousand years. The roots of Byzantium reach back even further to ancient Rome and even Greece (it was the eastern half of the Roman empire , yet the Byzantines didn't speak Latin, instead they spoke Greek and had a considerable Greek and Middle Eastern influence). Constantinople was the end of the silk road and a major commerce center in the ancient western world. So, from these many roots and a vast history of over a thousand years we can draw upon many cultural influences for the personas of our unit members, and are not limited to those that are strictly based on Imperial Rome. With that in mind we offer membership to virtually anyone. You don' t have to have a Roman character, you can base your persona on any number of various cultures. We can use your help to create a strong, cohesive fighting unit on the field and a good group of friends off the field. We are here to have fun and the camaraderie we find with friends is the most important aspect to us as members of this unit. Fighting is secondary to the enjoyment we get from our association. So, whether you are a heavy sword and board fighter, a light skirmisher, or an archer who likes to stand away from the front line of direct physical combat, we can use your talents and welcome you to our unit, provided you fit within our brand of fellowship.
